Yes, I’m a craft addict. There, I admit it. I have been since childhood- since I first smooshed my baby food over the tray of my little highchair to create a work of art (not that my mother agreed). I have knitted, crochetted, cross- stitched, silk painted, paper crafted, glass painted, salt doughed, cut, glued, and polymer clayed my way through life…not to mention bread dough (not the salt and flour kind, the bread and PVA glue kind), rubber stamping, collage, scrapbooking, paper tole, jewellery making, sewing, potato stamping, embroidery, and all manner of other crafty pursuits that I can’t even remember. My craft cupboard is voluminous and badly needs some organisation (but I couldn’t bear to throw out a single thing).
I come from a long line of crafty people. My father was a photographer who painted with oils and watercolours and sketched, my aunt made her own frocks, and window dressings that looked like they would be quite at home in the pages of Home Beautiful magazine. A second cousin had a wonderful talent for pastel landscapes and my great great aunt made tiny bark brooches from nearly nothing- so I was surrounded by craft inspiration.
Hello world! is the default title for your first blog entry, so hello world. Here I am blogging, another creative venture. I hope that I can share some of my creative ideas with you and get you doing things that are a little outside your comfort zone- because craft is an adventure, something that challenges you to do something you may not have done before…and that’s what life is all about after all, isn’t it….doing things we haven’t done before.
So stay tuned…..more to come…..
